First thing I did today was to run some errands. Came back to the Rio and had a little time to kill so Marie and I played a little 3 card. I didn't have any luck but Marie hit a straight flush and had a good run at it. Afterwards we got ready and went to the Wynn to see Le Reve. I had free VIP tickets to see the show which included chocolate covered strawberries and truffles. We ate dinner at Stratta in the Wynn. It was delicious. Le Reve is one of my favorite shows in Vegas. For those of you who are following my blog, you're probably thinking, "didn't he just see this show recently?" You would be correct. But I wasn't turning down free tickets, so I saw it again. After the show we headed to the Encore, which is the "encore" hotel of the Wynn. This was my first time in the Encore, so this was the perfect opportunity since its attached to the Wynn. Oh, almost forget, went into the bathroom at the Wynn, the stalls, the walls and the doors are all marble. They may be that way at other casinos but this is the only one I've taken notice of. I heard somewhere this is the most expensive one to be built. Played a little at the Encore and left to head to the Trump. There aren't too many casinos left that I haven't gambled at and the Trump was one of them. Got out of the van at the Trump, paid the valet, went inside and asked where the casino is. They told me that they don't have a casino there, its just a hotel. Why in the world would you stay at a hotel in Las Vegas that doesn't have a casino? That means you have to pay to be driven to another casino to gamble. I thought Trump was known for his business mind. I don't know what he was thinking by not putting a casino in this hotel. So back in the van and decided to go to Circus Circus, just around the corner. At one time I assume Circus Circus was considered a nice casino. Its like going back in time in this casino. But I still wanted to be able to say I gambled there so I did. Actually made money at 3 card poker there. Came back to the Rio, not sure what I'm doing tomorrow.

  1. Yes, at one time the Circus Circus was one of the hottest places to go. While it is great you are seeing all the really fancy new hotels and casinos, it is sad that the "REAL" Las Vegas is gone. I started losing interest when they tore down the Sahara, Dunes, Sands, Riviera and Alladin. Frank and I spent part of our honeymoon at the Alladin. I remember as a child, my sister and I would watch my Uncle Joe (from the safety of the lobby)at the crap table at the Sahara. We were probably only 4 and 6 years old at the time. He would always bring us a silver dollar (real silver) when he finished so we could go get ice cream. I miss the old authentic hotel/casinos. Everything is so glitzy now. Frank found out yesterday that his foot is healing real well (the pig skin graft the doctor put on his foot "took") so we are heading back to TN. on Saturday. Have a good day tomorrow. I love you.
